St Euphemia the Great Martyr
Reverend Clergy and Faithful
Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
With the blessings of His Eminence Metropolitan Iakovos of Chicago; at the guidance of His Grace Bishop Demetrios of Mokissos and Mr. George Vourvoulias, Conference Chair; together with the entire parish family of Holy Trinity, I would like to welcome you to Sioux City for the Metropolis of Chicago Local (clergy-laity) Assembly and Philoptochos Conference, scheduled to commence Wednesday, October 2, and concluding Sunday, October 6, 2013. We will be meeting at the beautiful Marina Inn Conference Center (385 East 4th Street, South Sioux City, Nebraska 68776). Additionally, we are blessed through the leadership of Rev. Fr. John Rallis to host the Fall Family Synaxis Retreat immediately following the assembly and conference..
On behalf of the Parish Council, our local chapter of the Ladies’ Philoptochos Society, and the many other ministries of Holy Trinity, we want to thank you for attending and for coming to our home. We hope you enjoy your stay and that the seminars, meetings, religious services, and fellowship opportunities leave you edified and enriched. We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to serve our Metropolis as your host parish and look forward to seeing you in a few short months.
Archdiocesan Regulations, Part 2, Article II, Section 5
Each Parish shall be represented by Four(4) representatives, each having one vote and shall include:
- The Parish Priest;
- The President of the Parish Council, and in his or her absence the Vice President, or in his or her absence and member of the Parish Council designated by it; and
- Two members of the Parish elected by the Parish Assembly.
Under separate letter, you will receive information regarding the Family Synaxis, and it is our hope you will encourage your families to join us for the two day retreat. With the blessings of both Metropolitan Iakovos of Chicago and Metropolitan Isaiah of Denver, we will be inviting several parishes from our neighboring Metropolis of Denver for the Family Synaxis due to their proximity to Sioux City. These churches from Nebraska are the parishes of the Holy Transfiguration Church (Sioux Falls), Annunciation Church (Lincoln), St. John the Baptist Church (Omaha), and the Church of the All-Holy Spirit (Omaha). We pray that all our families will be renewed by the Holy Spirit throughout the retreat.
All information for the Philoptochos Conference, the Metropolis (Local) Assembly, and the Family Synaxis Retreat may also be found on our website (www.holytrinity.ia.goarch.org.) Again, we look forward to seeing you!
In Christ’s service,
